Stopped by for dinner after a day of driving back from our Harney County birding trip. Nothing to write home about. My burger was okay but un-inspired. My wife's Bleu Cheese burger was apparently much better. I was tempted to try the halibut sandwich, but the batter fried part just sounded greasy. After way too many days of road-trip fried potatoes I opted to pay $1.50 more for them to hold the fries and add a cup of chili. Besides being a rip-off, the chili tasted liked canned Hormel's. Stupid choice on my part. Some locals banging away at the video lottery machines along one wall kept giving us the stink-eye. Weirdly, there's a pool table in the bar, but it's covered with a huge plastic tablecloth and is set up for eating. Is this the great local ambience other Yelpers are praising? Draft beer selection was okay, but much more expensive than Walt's in Coos Bay. Walt's also has a much better beer selection. There are TVs in every corner playing sports of some kind. Except for the one directly behind us that was trying hard to fill the entire bar by pumping out loud, tinny Country music from the built-in TV speakers. My head was still pounding hours later. The lone waitress was nice enough, but she assumed we were out-of-town tourists, saying "Enjoy the rest of your stay!" when she brought back the check. Which may be all you need to explain the money/food quotient? Long story short, with tip we shelled out $45 for two for what was probably the worst meal of our entire eastern Oregon trip. No joy there.

This is definitely the bar that the locals frequent and it is for good reason. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was good, and they have plenty of TV's to watch whatever game is on. The clam strips were my favorite on the Captains Platter. Large pieces of clam with a fairly light batter and fried up super crispy. Also loved the clam chowder, it was thick with big chunks of clam and topped with paprika. I only come down here to do some fishing once in a while but this will be my go to grab a beer and a bite spot when I do.

Stopped on our way to Coos Bay because other ratings were so high. We were a bit disappointed as we were right on a fishing port and The seafood was not local caught. the clams in the clam chowder were canned, the "jumbo prawns" were small and obviously frozen packaged, the fish and chips were clearly from freezer section in the grocery store. way too pricey for what was served. Burgers were good though. service was good so we added a star. We wont be back.

Awesome service. Very friendly. Shared a captains platter and a couple of bowls of chowder. Really good food. And don't forget the house made chips. I could have had seconds!

Just the best chowder I ever ate, and I've been eating for 7 decades. I have a pic of my spoon standing up in it. Piping hot, buttered toast, a cup of strong black coffee. Hopefully I can post it.

Stopped for lunch, all three of us had burgers and all were great. We tried different sides, one fries, one onion rings and one chips. All were good, homemade chips were a nice change from standard fare. Server was very pleasant and efficient. Would definitely come back.

Great people, great food, and great atmosphere! Had the BBQ burger with homemade chips and it was great! My wife had the fish and chips with a bowl of clam chowder. She said it was delicious and the fish was very fresh. The kids enjoyed their cheeseburger and hot dog. Awesome place and I'll come back for sure next time we come back.

Here on a Monday night. Umpqua triangle oysters. Out of Rockefeller so we ordered pan fried. Perfectly cooked. Breading doesn't get in the way. So good we ordered seconds. This is a sports bar but the food rivals anyplace. Don't let the exterior or interior fool you if you want good food. we will return. Maybe even tomorrow. We did return and the oysters were great again. They don't serve them on Wednesdays

I had their special burger with bacon, ham, turkey and egg. This was amazing! My fiancé had the fish and chips and said the seasoning was awesome. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great meal. The staff was very friendly and made the experience that much better. I hope I can go through there again, because I know where I'll be eating :)

My brother has been here before and Raved about it. We went there as a family outing to the coast after crab fishing. They had the best burgers. The waitress was fabulous, she was so friendly and helpful. The Double D Burger was huge, and very good. Could not finish it. The prices were very reasonable. Please visit them if you are in Winchester Bay or passing through.
